Las Olas

The jewel of Fort Lauderdale with direct docking and a vibrant nightlife.

Welcome to Las Olas

The jewel of Fort Lauderdale with direct docking and a vibrant nightlife

Among the easily-navigated Intracoastal Waterway of Fort Lauderdale, the neighborhood of Las Olas is set along gorgeous canals and easily accessible by the beautiful Las Olas Boulevard as well as water taxis. Though part of the city, Las Olas has its own cinemas, art museums, restaurants, shopping, and nightlife that help define its signature atmosphere. Famous for waterfront homes and condos, Las Olas is a true paradise whose proximity to the offerings of Fort Lauderdale allows it to keep all the conveniences of city living.

Though the boulevard itself was paved in 1917, the area took much longer to develop. Visionaries imagined a village of magnificent housing unlike any other and dredged the land to create the sparkling residential area. The value was enhanced further in the 1980s when new luxury homes began to replace the older builds, and the neighborhood became a hot spot for celebrities, moguls, and those who craved an ocean oasis style of living over anything else.

Homes in Las Olas have docking access and are the ideal residence for boat and yacht enthusiasts who want to be able to step from their front porch down into the waters. Modern and sleek new-builds rise up above the canals with open floor plans and glass walls built to let in the sunlight. Next to them, in equal amounts of luxury, you can spot timeless Spanish Colonial and Mediterranean-inspired homes, minimalist estates, and the occasional high-rise condo with entire floors available for purchase. Though they range in the multi-millions, the prestige and amenities that come with these homes are well worth their price points.

What to Love

• Prestigious homes and neighborhood
• A boater’s paradise with direct docking from residencies
• Equal distance from beaches and downtown Fort Lauderdale
• One of South Florida’s best shopping districts

People & Lifestyle

Las Olas perfectly balances a feeling of distance and private seclusion—with its gated properties—and a feeling of exuberant activity, thanks to its position on one of Fort Lauderdale’s premier shopping, dining, and nightlife districts. Residents trend towards non-family units, and the waterway lifestyle is ideally suited to retirees, vacation homeowners, and those who want the best of everything.

Dining, Shopping, & Entertainment

Walk the brick-paved streets of central shopping districts like Las Olas Boulevard, and you’ll realize that it takes a lifetime to explore all that Fort Lauderdale has to offer. Expertly manicured greenery adorns walkways, and trendy, high-end shops and restaurants wait like beacons, especially as evening descends and the whole area lights up. In addition to the cafes, galleries, eateries, and boutiques, Las Olas Boulevard is home to many fashionable nightclubs with exclusive entrances and endless entertainment.

Dining is a treat in Las Olas, and with many restaurants within walking distance from home, it’s easy to grab a bite from your favorite locations any day of the week. For a true taste of Mexico—and plenty of authentic margaritas—make sure you hit up Rocco’s Tacos and Tequila Bar. The guac is made fresh, table-side, and the crave-worthy tacos will satisfy any palate. Another local favorite, Louie Bossi dishes out unbeatable Italian fare. Choose from gourmet, Neapolitan pizzas, and salads. Their pasta, gelatos, cookies, and bread are made in-house daily, and the proof is in the incredible flavors.

If you need a sweet fix, there’s nowhere better than Kilwins. Their original recipe ice cream is famous for its creamy deliciousness, and their hand-made confections and treats include items like caramel apples, twinkies dipped in chocolate, peanut brittle, fudge, caramel corn, and chocolate covered pretzels.

Things to Do

With beaches, shops, restaurants, and historic sites like the Stranahan House Museum (the city’s oldest surviving structure), Las Olas doesn’t need to have any other opportunities for entertainment and fun. And yet, this small, enviable neighborhood and boulevard also hosts several festivals and events throughout the year that draw in thousands.

The Annual Las Olas Arts Fair has been running for decades to the benefit of the area’s residents. The event is ranked as one of the top 100 art festivals in the nation and includes displays from hundreds of artists across all mediums. To taste from over 200 wine, brews, and spirits, along with dozens of the best in the culinary field, you’ll want to check out the Las Olas Wine and Food Festival held in April each year. Exotic car enthusiast? The neighborhood is home to the Exotics on Las Olas free event, which gives attendees the chance to view some of the world’s rarest—and most coveted—automobiles.
